Stocks opened the holiday-shortened week Tuesday with healthy gains, keeping alive hopes of the traditional, year-ending "Santa Claus" rally. But there was little news driving the rally, and some analysts suspected bargain hunters were taking advantage of tax-driven, year-end stock sales.

Still, he expects a stock rally in January. "I don't think much can derail this market," he said.
